We are willing to consider applications for any charitable purpose.
Nearly all our grants are made because we have prior knowledge of the project or area of concern. In most cases the idea for the project comes from us; we work with suitable organizations to achieve our objectives.
We rarely respond to unsolicited applications for projects of which we know nothing. In such cases where support is given, the amounts are usually £200 or less.
We rarely consider grants to individuals in need.We do not give to individuals going on gap year trips to the developing world.
We are unlikely to give to large fund-raising charities.
We do not give for missionary work.
To apply, simply send us details of your proposal (no more than two pages in length) in the form of a letter. You might try to include the following information:
1. the aims and objectives of your organization
2. the project for which you need money
3. who benefits from the project and how
4. breakdown of the costs and total estimated costs
5. how much money you need from us
6. other funding secured for the project
7. a summary of your latest annual accounts
If we refuse you it is not because your project is not worthwhile - it is because we do not have sufficient funds, or it is simply outside our current area of interest.
The range of projects we have supported in the past is eclectic. We have bought a Tea plantation for a tribal community in India; funded research in the prevention of blindness; supported initiatives for peace in the middle east; funded tree planting in urban areas; helped NGO's in Grenada and Sarajevo.
In 2008/9 our peace reconciliation work will be focused on the SLIM PEACE and KNIT FOR PEACE initiatives. Funding for projects in India is now predominantly raised through our GREEN HOTEL.
Applications should be addressed to the Director. Good luck!
